Corrosion protection

Technician spray-applying a protective coating in the Viana workshop

NORSOK M501 coating systems, UHP water jetting, thermal spray and composite repairs.

Surface preparation that meets NORSOK M501

Coating failures offshore almost never start with the paint — they start with the steel. We prepare every surface to the blast grade, profile and cleanliness NORSOK M501 requires, holding humidity and dew point inside spec before a single coat goes on.

Coating systems built for the asset, not the catalogue

We apply multi-coat epoxy and polyurethane systems by spray and brush, with a dedicated stripe coat on edges, welds and bolts where film thickness pulls thin — the detail that decides whether a system reaches its design life. Our Viana workshop runs a dedicated XYLAN coating line alongside conventional spray booths.

Beyond paint: thermal spray, composite repair and UHP cleaning

For components that need a metallic barrier, we thermal-spray zinc and aluminium coatings. For structural repairs, we install engineered composite wraps as an alternative to hot work on live systems. And where abrasive blasting isn't an option — inside a running plant — we clean and prepare surfaces with ultra-high-pressure water jetting instead.

The result is a corrosion control programme that is documented, repeatable and built around the standards our clients audit against, onshore and offshore.
